We no longer need to struggle to survive. Our basic needs are now met with minimal physical strife or mental challenge. Technology and the advances of man have left us over-stressed and under-performing. We are now forced to actively pursue our struggles. If we do not go out of our way to stretch our comfort zones and grow, no one nor nature will do it for us.

The struggles we endure today will be the ‘good old days’ we laugh about tomorrow.

Serving God demands a lot of work

Now-people” are winners; they say “now” and they do it now! That’s the spirit we need, my friends. If you have the goals and the environment is clear enough, go ahead and do it now!

But to believe that getting stuff is the purpose and aim of life is madness.

In the multitude of middle-aged men who go about their vocations in a daily course determined for them much in the same way as they tie their cravats there is always a good number who once meant to shape their own deeds and alter the world a little.

I had written a book of short stories which was published under the title of "Uncle Tom's Children". When the review of that book began to appear, I realized that I had made an awful naive mistake. I found that I had written a book which even bankers' daughters could read and weep over and feel good about. I swore to myself that if I ever wrote another book, no one would weep over it; that it would be so hard and deep that they would have to face it without the consolation of tears.

One should want only one thing and want it constantly. Then one is sure of getting it. But I desire everything and consequently get nothing.

The true object of human life is play.

The goal is to move the thinking that we do every day to the feeling that we often ignore and don't pay attention to.
